This post only took me 24 hours to be able to write..........
It's really tough sometimes to be a fan of any of Houston's sports franchises. However, last night's 2 out 3 run home run by Albert Pujols was without a doubt the hardest stomach punch (#2 on ESPN's Bill Simmons 13 Levels of Losing) this Houston fan has ever felt.
Now let's put that statement in perspective. I've lived here for all but the 1st 3 months of my life. I vividly remember the Astros 1980 playoff losses to the Phillies and Tug McGraw, and the 1986 loss to the Mets. I watched the Oilers fail to meet Bum Phillips prediction in 1978 and 1979 that the next year we were going to "kick the door in." I experienced every second of the choke job the Oilers pulled in 1992 when they set an NFL record against a backup Buffalo QB losing after holding a 35-3 halftime lead. But again, last night was the worst.
I am not one of those who say we should have walked Pujols. You can't walk the tying run into scoring position. But for once I wish a Houston team would close the deal. Other than the 1994 an 1995 Rockets our teams have found spectacular ways to just miss.
That said, I still think the 'Stros will do it tomorrow. Let's go Astros!
