This morning, Spring Branch honored its partners, donors, and volunteers at the 4th Annual Celebration of Sharing held at Memorial City Mall (.pdf). A brochure entitled Making Connections for Student Success (.pdf) was provided that details some of the highlights of the Partnerships and Volunteers Programs.
Today's event included a welcome message from Jeff Nowlin, COO of Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, the Flag Ceremony performed by Scouts Joe Robin, Clint Harkey, and Clay Harkey from Boy Scout Troop 664, and greetings and introductions by SBISD Community Relations Officer Linda Buchman.
The crowd was then treated to a performance by the Memorial Drive Elementary Choir.
Our Superintendent, Dr. Duncan Klussmann, then delivered his message of thanks.
This was followed by a performance by an extremely talented Spring Woods High School Senior, Kristina Love.
Housman Elementary School's Principal, Jerona Williams, introduced 4 of her students, Angelica Cortez (2nd grade), Logan Elliott (3rd grade), Jasmine Martinez (4th grade), and Kaitlin Oldakowski (5th grade) who talked about the impact that Housman's HUG (Helping Us Grow) mentoring program has had on their lives.
Sue Loudis, the SBISD Partnerships & Volunteers Program Specialist, then concluded the Celebration.
As a member of the District's Volunteer Advisory Board since 2003, I have enjoyed participating in this event since its inception. This year's event was a great success that once again affirms the valuable contributions of each of the over 8,200 volunteers, partners, and donors, without whom Spring Branch would not be able to do all we do for our students.
