The Texas Education Agency Posts Proposed Procedures for the Accountability System for 2008 (and Beyond): Click Here to Review the Proposals and Submit Your Comments

This afternoon, I received the email below from a number of people.  The Texas Education Agency's Educator Focus Group on Accountability has issued its recommendations which are now posted for public comment.

Here are the two proposals and instructions for submitting comments:

E-mail comments to performance.reporting@tea.state.tx.us no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008. Please insert "Focus Group Proposal Comments" in the subject  line of your e-mail.

To All Interested Parties:

The 2008 Educator Focus Group on Accountability met on March 3-4, 2008, to discuss state accountability for 2008 and beyond. Two Focus Group proposals are now available for review and comment - one on the standard accountability procedures, and a second on alternative education accountability procedures.

The Commissioner's Accountability Advisory Committee (CAAC) will review these proposals later this month, and will either endorse these proposals or recommend alternatives for review by the Commissioner of Education.

Final decisions regarding the 2008 system will be released as soon as they are available, with the 2008 Accountability Manual completed and released by late May.

Please give these Focus Group proposals your careful review. You may provide feedback and reactions via email to the Division of Performance Reporting at performance.reporting@tea.state.tx.us                           . Insert the phrase "Accountability Focus Group Proposals" in the subject line.

Responses must be received by noon on Friday, April 4, 2008.
