The media coverage of our Homework Task Force that began with Monday's Houston Chronicle story continued today with my first ever live television interview. I appeared on Fox 26's morning show.
From the Fox 26 website:
Do students really benefit from take-home
assignments?
One Houston area school district is asking just that question. The
Spring Branch ISD board is having a committee look at the district's
homework policy and it could result in a major change. Mike Falick, a
member of the Spring Branch explains the potential policy change on FOX
26 Morning News.
You can watch the interview here.
I am a high school teacher and I do not assign homework. I give adequate time in class to complete assignments, and the only time my students will have homework is if they didn't use that time wisely. My goal? Adults with good time management skills. And as a mom, I'd much rather have family time in the evenings than my children bogged down with homework assignments.
