Every other year, Spring Branch kicks off the new school year with a District-wide convocation that brings together all of the District's employees. Today's Convocation featured performances by the Stratford Marching Band (morning), Northbrook Marching Band (afternoon), and the SBISD Girls Choir (morning and afternoon). In addition, greetings from the Board were delivered by Theresa Kosmoski, and Warren Matthews, Chairman of the Spring Branch Education Foundation talked about the Foundation and the Employee Campaign.
In addition, one of our recent (2007) Northbrook graduates, Emmanuel Lopez, gave a very inspirational speech. Mr. Lopez came to the United States when he was 10, and is now majoring in architecture at Texas A&M and carrying a 4.0 GPA.
Dr. Klussmann spoke about the importance of building strong relationships as a critical component to ensure the success of all of our students.
The keynote address was delivered by noted author Clay Roberts. Mr. Roberts spoke about the importance of building character assets into each student, the importance of connecting with students, and meaningful relationships and growth as a key to student success.
The Convocation concluded with an Animoto video which can be seen by clicking below. Also below are a few pictures I took during this morning's event (click the image to enlarge).
