Our Board held its monthly workshop meeting tonight. Here's a recap of the issues discussed and actions taken on tonight's Agenda.
Our first Agenda item was a public hearing on the proposed 2008 tax rate. Here is a copy of the PowerPoint that was shown prior to the hearing. No one spoke during the hearing.
Our next Agenda item was a discussion about funding options for 2009-2010 for our Pre-K program. Currently, we receive approximately $3 million from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) through a grant. The TEA has informed us that that funding is at risk for 2009-2010. As a result, we are looking at potential significant changes to the program. More information about this issue and a request for community action may be coming in the very near future.
Next we had a discussion and update on the District's Five Year Educational Plan. The documents that were provided to the Board are here, here, here, and here.
Our first action item on tonight's agenda was discussion and amendment to our Board/Superintendent Operating Procedure #17 which defines our Board Liaison functions.
Finally, we spent quite a while on which updates a number of our Board Policies.
Please remember to vote in the Calendar Survey. Voting ends on October 27.
The link to the PowerPoint has been fixed.
