The District is conducting a survey on the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 Calendars. This is an important survey and there are significant differences between the two proposed calendars for each year, most notably whether first semester finals should be taken before or after the winter break. You can take the survey by clicking below.
A comparison of the two proposed calendars and more information from the District's website appear below.
The survey continues until October 27.

Vote on New Calendars
State law requires that school begin next year on Aug. 24, 2009. The
SBISD Calendar Committee is seeking opinions now through Oct. 27 on
school calendars for the next two years – 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. Your
response will be counted and considered by the committee as part of a
calendar development process. Tell us what you think about future
calendar options. Take our surveys here. (See below)
The SBISD Calendar Committee, a representative group of SBISD parents, teachers and administrators, has worked diligently since August to develop two draft calendars for the 2009 – 2010 and 2010-2011 school years. The committee wishes for you to know that there was not much opportunity for flexibility in the calendars for the reasons outlined below.
- State law passed in 2006 mandates a school start date for all Texas school districts no earlier than the 4th Monday in August with NO waiver option.
- SBISD Board Parameters require no fewer than 178 student instructional days. (http://www.springbranchisd.com/calendars/08-09/Resolution0809.pdf
- Across Texas, college summer school begins the first week in June. This impacts a number of our graduating seniors and staff and limits our ability to extend the calendar into June. Colleges are not flexible.
