Help Me Elect Chris Gonzalez and Katherine Dawson to the Spring Branch School Board

As you know, I have had the privilege of serving on the Spring Branch School Board since 2004.  As I continue to serve, I ask that you to help me elect Chris Gonzalez and Katherine Dawson to the Board.  

Chris and Katherine already have my support, and I urge you to support them too!

Chris Gonzalez for Position 2

I have known Chris for several years, and for the past year, I have had the privilege of serving with Chris on our Spring Branch School Board.

Chris is a fiscal conservative with a proven track record as a strong advocate for our students, our taxpayers, and our community.  Chris brings a unique set of skills to the Board as a Rice MBA, a former teacher, a current public school administrator, and as the parent of three children who will attend Spring Branch schools.

Chris is thoughtful, deliberative, and reasoned in her passionate advocacy to ensure that every student is successful.  For all these reasons, I believe that Chris is the only qualified candidate in her race for Position 2 on the Board.

Katherine Dawson for Position 3

I have also had the privilege of working with Katherine Dawson for a number of years. Katherine is currently the  President of the Spring Branch Council of PTAs, and serves the District in many leadership positions including the District Improvement Team, the Spring Branch Finance Team, the Spring Branch Education Foundation Executive Board to mention a few. Prior to serving as a district leader, Katherine served as the PTA President at Rummel Creek and in leadership roles on the PTA at Memorial Middle.

Katherine brings unique qualifications to the Board as a former Spring Branch teacher and employee of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch, and as the parent of three children.  Katherine has been a knowledgeable advocate for years for all the students in the District, while simultaneously working to protect the taxpayers.

For all these reasons, I believe that Katherine is the only qualified candidate in her race for Position 3 on the Board.

As our District faces the on-going significant budgetary challenges as well as the many other daily challenges of educating our 34,000 students, proven leaders like Chris and Katherine are critical to our continued success.

Provide Input on the Direction of Spring Branch ISD at the Community Forums on the District's Next Five Year Plan

The Board is working to finalize the District's next Five Year Plan for 2012 - 2017 - The Spring Branch Plan.  As part of the process, the Board is seeking community input at 4 community forums, beginning tonight at 6:00p at Stratford.  Additional information is contained in the email I received below.

Alan November, Ray McNulty, and Bill Daggett Talk About Their Work with Spring Branch's Next Five Year Plan

For the past six weeks, a group of 75 Spring Branch parents, community members, staff, and students have been working together to create the District's next Five Year Educational Plan - The Spring Branch Plan.  This Plan will guide the District beginning on July 1, 2012, through 2017.  The Plan will move Spring Branch from a very good school district to a great school district.

Over the first two weekends, the planning group heard from Alan November, Ray McNulty, and Bill Daggett.  Each of these visionary, nationally known experts offers his thoughts on education in the videos below.

 

 

 

Spring Branch Celebration of Sharing February 24: Celebrating the District's Partners, Donors, and Volunteers

On Thursday, February 24, 2011, Spring Branch will celebrate the tremendous contributions of its partners, donors, and volunteers with the 8th Annual Celebration of Sharing.  The event will take place at Memorial City Mall from 7:15a - 9:00a.

Spring Branch's Annual Parent U: A Day of Learning, is going to take place on October 2, 2010, from 8:00a - 1:00p at Spring Woods High School. Registration is easy -- click here to register in English or here to register in Spanish.

Spring Branch to Celebrate New Elementary School Grand Openings - Westwood (9/23), Ridgecrest (10/14), and Hollibrook (10/21)

Over the next several weeks, we will celebrate the grand openings of our three new elementary schools, Westwood (9/23), Ridgecrest (10/14), and Hollibrook (10/21).  Of course, these schools have been open since the beginning of this school year, but you are invited to join us for the "official' grand opening.  Please RSVP by clicking on the image below.

Spring Branch to Dedicate Maiorana Field April 1

At our Board meeting on February 22, 2010, the Board approved the dedication of the baseball field at Spring Woods High School.

On April 1, 2010, Spring Branch will dedicate Maiorana Field.  The scheduled events for the dedication appear below.

Spring Branch has just named its 2009-2010 Elementary and Secondary Principals of the Year, and they are . . . . . .
