Today's L.A. Times has another article that supports the importance of at least obtaining a high school diploma. The article highlights the fact that high school graduates make 3 times the salary of dropouts. What this article fails to acknowledge is the importance of going beyond high school. The value of a bachelors degree in Texas is $80,950 as compared to $42,271 for a high school diploma and $30,412 for a dropout. That differential equates to almost $2 million over an individual's work life for a degree as compared to a high school diploma and over $2.5 million for a degree as compared to a dropout.
